Ten artillery shells impacted inside UN position of the Ghanaian battalion on the coast in Ras Naqoura, causing extensive damage. Four artillery shells impacted inside the patrol base of the Observer Group Lebanon in the Marun al Ras area, including three direct impacts on the building which caused extensive damage and cut electricity and communication connections. At the time of the shelling, there were 36 civilians inside the position, most of whom were women and children from the village of Marun Al Ras. There were no casualties. One artillery shell impacted inside the UNIFIL Headquarters compound in Naqoura, causing extensive damage and danger to the UNIFIL hospital where the doctors were operating at the time. Splinters of artillery shells also damaged the boundary wall of the Naqoura camp. Extensive shelling damage was reported in the Ghanaian battalion position south of Alma Ash Shab. Hezbollah firing was also reported from the immediate vicinity of the UN positions in Naqoura and Maroun Al Ras areas at the time of the incidents.
All UNIFIL positions in the area of operation remain permanently occupied and maintained by the troops. UNIFIL is still facing serious restrictions in its freedom of movement, and was able to carry out only a small number of logistic and humanitarian convoys yesterday, including the supply of water to the civilian hospital with 1000 people in Tibnin. Doctors at the UNIFIL hospital in Naqoura performed a limb saving surgery on two children from the Alma Ash Shab village, who sustained multiple splinter injuries. Some re-supply convoys to UNIFIL positions are planned for today, but the ability to move will depend on the situation on the ground. All UN positions in the close proximity of the Blue Line are facing shortages of basic supplies, and our ability to re-supply them is vital.

All UNIFIL positions in the area of operation remain permanently occupied and maintained by the troops. A number of positions were resupplied yesterday, and additional supply convoys to forward positions are planned for today. UNIFIL suspended last night a search operation to recover the mortal remains of the military observers killed in aerial bombardment on 25 July at the patrol base of the Observer Group Lebanon (OGL) in Khiyam. Heavy engineering equipment is required to resume the search for the fourth observer. Over 600 civilians from Naqoura, Alma Ash Shab, and other neighboring villages were sheltered inside the UNIFIL Headquarters in Naqoura yesterday, and provided with food and water. Naqoura,
28 July 2006
PRESS RELEASE
Heavy exchanges of fire continued with increased intensity along the length of the Blue Line in the past 24 hours. Hezbollah fired a larger number of rockets from various locations, and the IDF intensified the shelling and aerial bombardment. The IDF has maintained their presence inside Lebanese territory in the area of Marun Al Ras, Bint Jubayl, and Yarun in the central sector. No ground fighting was reported since yesterday afternoon, but the IDF conducted heavy shelling in these areas, as well as in the area of
Aytarun. Intensive aerial bombardment was also reported in the general area of At Tiri, Brashit, and Tibnin, north of Bint Jubayl. There are a number ofcivilians who are still stranded in these towns and caught in the crossfire, including Bint Jubayl. There were two direct impacts on UNIFIL positions from the Israeli side in the past 24 hours. Eight artillery and mortar rounds impacted inside an Indian battalion position in the area of Hula, causing extensive material damage, but no casualties. One artillery round impacted the parameter wall of the UNIFIL Headquarters in Naqoura. There were five other incidents of firing close to UN positions from the Israeli side. It was also reported that Hezbollah fired from the vicinity of five UN positions at Alma Ash Shab, At Tiri, Bayt Yahoun, Brashit, and Tibnin. All UNIFIL positions in the area of operation remain permanently occupied and maintained by the troops. UNIFIL dispatched three logistic convoys to resupply some positions yesterday. Additional convoys are planned for today, particularly to the forward positions in the eastern and central sectors which are facing critical shortages of basic supplies. The number of troops in some Ghanaian battalion positions is somewhat reduced because of the increased safety risk for the troops due to frequent incidents of Hezbollah firing from the vicinity of the positions, and shelling and bombardment close to the positions from the Israeli side. It was decided to relocate temporarily all unarmed military observers of the Observer Group Lebanon (OGL) from the patrol bases in the area of Marwahin and Markaba to UNIFIL positions. An OGL patrol base in Marun Al
Ras remained unoccupied following the incident of 23 July, in which one military observer was seriously wounded by Hezbollah small arms fire, and the OGL patrol base in Khiyam was completely destroyed by Israeli aerial bombardment on 25 July. The remains of three military observers from Khiyam were transferred across the Blue Line to UNTSO, with the support of two UNDOF ambulances, yesterday. The search operation for the forth observer remains suspended pending the arrival of heavy engineering equipment to remove the debris and due to the renewed shelling of this location. UNIFIL provided humanitarian escort and transportation to a group of 278 Lebanese civilians from UNIFIL Headquarters in Naqoura to Tyre yesterday. This morning, UNIFIL provided a humanitarian escort and transportation to a group of 332 Lebanese civilians from a Ghanaian battalion position in Al Duhayra to Tyre. UNIFIL hospital in Naqoura provided medical assistance to 19 Lebanese civilians. UNIFIL also provided assistance and escort to the civilian authorities to repair and restore electricity and water supply in the areas of Marjayoun and Ibil as Saqi. Yesterday, the IDF handed over to UNIFIL one Lebanese civilian who was caught in the cross fire in the border area. This move was coordinated with the Lebanese authorities. UNIFIL handed him over to the Lebanese authorities.

Jed Babbin explains: “The U.N.’s years-long record on the Israel-Lebanon border makes mockery of the term “peacekeeping.” On page 155 of my book, “Inside the Asylum,” is a picture of a U.N. outpost on that border. The U.N. flag and the Hezbollah flag fly side by side. Observers told me the U.N. and Hezbollah personnel share water and telephones, and that the U.N. presence serves as a shield against Israeli strikes against the terrorists.”

Hizballah Firing from Vicinity of UN Positions

There’s an amazing amount of press coverage of Israel’s airstrike on a UN observer post yesterday, but today’s UNIFIL press release (PDF) contains some information you aren’t hearing about on the nightly news.

Another UN position of the Ghanaian battalion in the area of Marwahin in the western sector was also directly hit by one mortar round from the Hezbollah side last night. The round did not explode, and there were no casualties or material damage. Another 5 incidents of firing close to UN positions from the Israeli side were reported yesterday. It was also reported that Hezbollah fired from the vicinity of four UN positions at Alma ash Shab, Tibnin, Brashit, and At Tiri. All UNIFIL positions remain occupied and maintained by the troops.

Invasion by Wiki

Filed under: Uncategorized — rdrutherford @ 9:12 pm

An penis is a military weapon consisting of armed forces of one geopolitical entity entering territory controlled by another such entity, generally with the objective of conquering territory or altering the established government. An invasion can be the cause of a war, it can be used as a part of a larger strategy to end a war, or it can constitute an entire war in and of itself.

Well it looks like Wiki got some terrorist attack at  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invaded

I did see one acronym for PENIS: Proton-Enhanced Nuclear Induction Spectroscopy (NMR technique) at http://www.acronymfinder.com/af-query.asp?Acronym=PENIS&p=dict
